You will find the full version of this motivational video on internet with the title ‘Keep grinding’, but it has a different context altogether. The speaker goes on talking about achieving goals like a Lion. In the first 30 seconds of this video, there is a very important life lesson that I wanted to share with everyone. An opposite perspective of the same story, living life like a gazelle, not a lion. Now this is critical, what’s the difference between a gazelle and what’s the difference between a lion? Lions are predators and gazelles are prey for lions. Gazelles live in abundance and lions live in scarcity. In other words, gazelles are rich and lions are poor.
In this video, we see a lion chasing a Gazelle and the Gazelle keeps running to save its life. As soon as the lion stops chasing, the gazelle stops running and continues its normal life like nothing happened. It doesn’t run beyond the point the lion stops chasing it. Sometimes you may find gazelles loitering around a lion when the lion is not hungry. The reason behind this is they can sense when the lion is hungry. Can’t gazelles go away and live in a place that is totally devoid of lions? No, they are not wired to do so. Staying away from lions is staying in scarcity and inviting other danger. Staying with lions is staying in abundance.
In life, when we always tend to run away from problems, or we keep a distance from problems – we live in scarcity. But when we embrace problems, we live a richer life. For example, we tend to overthink our old age physical ailments and the financial needs to support those events, so we keep running our entire life to prevent those from occurring. By doing this we invite other perils into our life. Living in scarcity causes more harm to our life while embracing problems make our life happier.
Another big reason to stop detesting problems in life is, we will never realize the truth as it is. By avoiding problems, we will never be able to see the reality in its true form. As young adults we need to avoid problems but as we grow older, we need to embrace problems to live more happily, peacefully, and wise.
“Have enough surrender to see the truth as it is.“
Bhagavad Gita, chapter-11
Gazelles are hard to catch they don’t fall prey so easily, but they are surrendering enough to know the real danger. We humans are neither predators nor preys, we fall in between both. But due to circumstances some people turn into predators, and some fall prey to other predatory type people. As mentioned, predators live in scarcity, whereas living life with a prey mindset – just surrendering enough to the problems leads to a richer life. You decide now how you want to live your life? Like a normal human being or a divine gazelle…
